The Responsible Person for your workplace must carry out a fire safety risk assessment and review it regularly.

Your fire risk assessment should be tailored for your business. It will need to cover, as a minimum:

  • Fire detection and warning systems
  • Fire escape routes and emergency exits (including appropriate signage)
  • Fire fighting equipment
  • Emergency evacuation procedures, including designated fire wardens
  • The needs of vulnerable people, for example disabled employees, children, the elderly
  • Communicating fire safety and evacuation procedures to employees and members of the public
  • Fire safety training.
