Information Bite 209 Covid19 RAMS
A fatality occurred on a construction site on 13/04/2020. Police and HSE attended the project and the first thing they asked for was the Covid19 RAMS although the accident had no connection at all with Covid19.
Fortunately the contractor had the paperwork to hand and immediately presented it to the HSE.
Principal Contractors are expected to implement safe operating procedures for construction projects and contractors must produce a risk assessment for working during the Covid19 pandemic.
In addition, where workers are not able to work from home and are returning to office environments, it is expected that specific assessments of the workplace are made and adequate control measures implemented to ensure that social distancing is maintained.
Care should be taken when considering controls for working with Covid19 to ensure that other risks are not ignored or made worse by the new control measures implemented.
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require assistance with risk assessments, safe operating procedures, back to work inspections, face-fit testing or any matters relating to the current pandemic.
