Information bite 227: HSE respiratory health inspection initiative for the construction sector
The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) is focusing on the respiratory risks of dust exposure to construction workers.
A month-long inspection initiative will begin on Monday 4th October. The focus will be on respiratory risks and occupational lung disease and inspections will look at the control measures employers have in place to protect their construction workers’ lungs from construction dust – including silica, asbestos and wood dust.
Employers – whether large construction companies or small building firms – have a legal responsibility to provide a safe environment and protect their workers from the respiratory risks of dust exposure.
