Yas Marina F1 Circuit

Client : Waagner Biro

As motor sport is a huge part of the sporting culture in the Middle East, Abu Dhabi secured the right and privilege to host a Formula One Grand Prix from 2009 onwards on behalf of the entire United Arab Emirates.  The inaugural Grand Prix proved to be an enormous success and the Yas Marina circuit is likely to become an eagerly anticipated race location for Formula One fans all accross the world.

The circuit for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is built on Yas Island, a natural 2,550 hectare island located to the east of Abu Dhabi island.  Along with a The World-Class FIA Sanctioned Racetrack, Yas Island features a Ferrari theme park, signature hotels, golf courses, a 300,000 square metre retail area and much more.

M.E.L. were engaged in the project from late 2008; providing a permanent overseas presence to manage safety on the site.  Our expertise was of considerable use in ensuring that standards were maintained to the highest possible level in accordance with UK Legislation: a recommendation of the development team that demonstrates the esteem with which  our safety standards are held within the rapidly developing Middle East.
